The next set of images were taken from the cable car, some were taken on the way up and others on the way down. Those observant amongst you will know that they are mixed together. When traveling up you are on the Matlock side, on the way down you are on the Matlock Bath side. If you have the whole cable car to yourself then you will get great views from both sides. | |

Built to take advantage of the panoramic views, it also provided work for the unemployed at the time who used both ingenuity and local stone in its construction. It stands 12.2 Metres (40ft) high and has 52 steps. |

Notice how there is no central column and also the steps are only wide enough at the outside of the tower. You need to be very careful when climbing or descending this tower for these reasons otherwise you will fall all the way down to the bottom ! |

It remained derelict for many years until in the 1960's it was used as a wildlife park, unfortunately this closed in October 2000. |
