Alongside Little Eaton runs the Railway, The River Derwent, The A38 Little Eaton by-pass and also the remains of the former Derby Canal. In the early 19th Century Little Eaton had a Gangway which made good use of the Derby Canal. Coal was mined
at the Denby Collieries and Trains were used to bring it down to the canal for loading onto barges so it could then be brought into Derby and other cities on the river Derwent. The Little Eaton gangway was closed in 1908. Many of the items from this era remain to this day.
There is a location map located in the village which shows you where to find them.

As you drive into Little Eaton from Derby on Alfreton Road (B6179) the first thing you come to is Derby Garden Centre on the right side of the road. Derby Garden Centre is massive, it has a great restaurant called "The Clocktower Restaurant". A pet and Aquarium centre too as well as the usual garden centre items you would expect to see.
