• Photos of Duffield, Derbyshire, England.
This old village has some fine old buildings and a sturdy bridge across the river Derwent. Duffield Castle was one of the greatest Norman Fortresses in England, matched only by the Tower of London itself. Built by the Ferrers in 1066 it was demolished 200 years later when they incurred the King's disfavour. Only very slight remains of the Castle can be seen on Castle Hill.

Duffield is located on the A6. The river Ecclesbourne flows right through this small village. Set in the valley of the river Derwent about five miles north of the city of Derby.
The population is about 5,500 with some building of new houses continuing to take place.
